East African pest crisis: Fall armyworm invades Kenya crops

Farmers in countries across eastern Africa, who have already been struggling with devastating drought, are facing a new threat.

A pest called the Fall Armyworm has invaded about 80,000 hectares of farm land in western Kenya.

The hungry caterpillar has the potential to create even more serious food shortages.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from Kitale, Kenya – an area that has been hit hardest by the pest.
